Minerva Academy FC brush aside Navi Mumbai FC challenge at the 3rd Group match of the 14th All India Administrators Challenge Cup 2016 played at the Sector 17 International Football & Cricket Stadium.
Minerva Academy FC who with a massive 36 goal goal difference with the drubbing if Kolkata based B.S Nadiya 16-0 and Bengaluru based J.J Soccer Academy 22-0 were looking forward to take the tally to a record half-century in their 3rd Group game as they took on Mumbai based Navi Mumbai FC.
The young Minervans who are clear favorites from the Group B did not take their opponents lightly and went roaring from the word go! As our Midfield Anchor Toiba did the honors in the 3rd minute of the game waking up the opponents back four with a smashing header off Amarjeet’s accurate conner kick. The boys from Mumbai tried to hold the blues back but their efforts were crushed everytime the boys from Chandigarh got the ball making in some moves worth watching. The numbers were added soon as Minerva’s Manipur born starlet Nongdamba took charge to make it 2-0 in the 11th minute dribbling past the opponents two defenders but the latter’s celebration was cut short by his own teammate Azharuddin who slotted home the 3rd for the morning with a powerfull header off Amarjeet’s deflected shot at the goal.
Our previous match hero Shajahan was back in form as he didn’t take much time to make it 4-0 as the cool customer slotted in past the advancing goalkeeper. A dominant show by the blues didn’t allow the opponents to make much out of the game as midfielder Nongdamba was again on the scoreboard scoring in two quick goals and assisting Sahajahan to for another to make it 7-0 at the Half time whistle.
The Second half saw Haokip opening his account in the tournament smashing off a goal in the 68th minute. The Minervans were then focusing more on possession and some short passing but looked like striker Sahajahan wasn’t satisfied until he completed his hattrick which he eventually did by scoring one to make it 9-0 in the 78th minute. Azharuddin too was rewarded for his brilliant footwork and skill down the flanks as he brought the score in double digits aster a beautiful chip over the advancing opponents goalkeeper.
Our Custodian Shamsher Singh who put in some tremendous performance under the woodwork for the blues in the tournament and is yet to concede a goal stepped up to get a feel of how it is to score, when he slotted in a penalty to make it 11-0 in the final few minutes as the game ended Midfielder Toiba was again on the scoreboard hammering the final nail in the coffin as he smashes in to make it 12-0 in favour of the blue at the final whistle.
The win has again scripted history in the Administrators Challenge Cup books as Minerva Academy FC hold up a massive 50 goal difference in the point table and probably the highest in the history of the tournament in just 3 games and conceding 0 in return!
Minerva Academy FC next takes on Andhra Pradesh based RDT Football Association tomorrow in their final Group B encounter to be played at the Sector 42 Football Stadium at 10am.
